Number of Beneficiaries:  Disable children, more than 370 disable children in Gyumri (Armenia)

Location: Shirak province: Gyumri

Background: The project is supposed to improve the situation of children with disabilities and their families in Armenia by providing information, consultations and trainings thus assuring their social inclusion. It will work towards creating positive attitude and accelerating the social inclusion processes.
The participation in the trainings and the study visit will be reflected in the work of the participating organizations and to make sure that the specific challenges and conditions of each country will be considered, a short-term consultant will be selected to accompany each of the partner organizations in their process of organizational development and quality management.

Goal: Strengthening the capacities of non-state actors and relevant authorities in Armenia and Belarus to be able to implement the 2012 UNICEF recommendations on children with disabilities, to advocate the rights of persons/children with disabilities and to improve services for them as well as their participation.

  • Children with disabilities
  • Their families
  • Persons with disabilities (PwD); all sexes
  • Local authorities (state actors)
  • Staff of the two model projects
  • Staff to be trained: 2x20 participants in training (20 per country)
  •   Indirect beneficiaries: Parents associations, families, population, other NGOs working in the field

Activities:

  • To organize a kick-off workshop in Austria with participants from relevant stakeholders from ARM and BY
  • To organize exchange visits and trainings in Armenia and Belarus
  • To develop advocacy and lobbying positions for the national context and advocate them before relevant stakeholders.
  • To implement a web-based information and education platform on topics related to disabilities for staff and volunteers working with persons with disabilities, parents of children with disabilities, state actors, as well as NGOs.
